Fiorini

Owners: Neil & Maria Empson
Established: 2012
Winemaker: Franco Bernabei

Fiorini is made from mostly Sangiovese, with small amounts of Canaiolo, Ciliegiolo and Cabernet Sauvignon. To qualify for Superiore, the grapes must come from the Chianti DOCG – including any of its seven sub zones (Aretini, Fiorentini, Pisane, Senesi, Montalbano, Montespertoli, Rufina), have a minimum alcohol level of 12% and be aged for at least nine months. Now that we’ve got the technical info out of the way, Fiorini is simply great value and delicious drinking, with classic ripe red cherry fruit and violet notes, the palate medium bodied, as Chianti should be, with a freshness that makes it a great partner for just about anything at the table.
