ItalyWinemaker: Franco Bernabei

Neil Empson and renowned oenologist Franco Bernabei are the two names behind Monte Antico, a 'piccolo SuperTuscan' blend of 85% Sangiovese, 10% Merlot and 5% Cabernet. Monte Antico is selected from some of the region's best vineyards and the merits of chosen locations and strict quality parameters make for the wine's depth, structure and character, showing abundant Tuscan seductiveness with delicious fruit that is both food-friendly and pocket-friendly. The wine is aged for one year in oak (80% Slavonian barrels, 20% in barrique) and is dark ruby in colour with a bouquet of leather, earth, herbs, black cherry and plum. The round, spicy and elegant palate makes it extremely versatile with any fare from pasta to meat, fowl and cheese.
What's new: Supremus is Neil and Franco's new SuperTuscan, a blend of 75% Sangiovese, 15% Merlot and 10% Cabernet, selected from old vines from Chianti Classico to the Maremma. Aged 14 months in barrique, the bouquet of violets, cherries and red berry fruit shows subtle notes of vanilla, balsamic, chocolate and leather, followed by a full and flavourful palate with velvet texture.
