The 2004 Premio is the sixth release of the Pike’s wine based on Sangiovese. This year, the blend is 75% Sangiovese and 25% Merlot, both grown on the home estate at Polish Hill River. The high natural acidity and savoury tannins of the Sangiovese are complemented beautifully by the sweet, dark cherry fruit characters of the Merlot. Premio is only released in exceptional vintages and the 2004 proudly stands as the first great ‘SuperClare’.
