Located in Treiso, Walter’s grandfather began making wine in 1939 to serve in the family’s osteria. His father Lorenzo commercialised their first vintages of Barolo and Barbaresco in 1958 and when he died suddenly in 1982, Walters mother Rita took over the winery and the restaurants, all whilst juggling her young son. She was an incredible woman who, sadly, recently passed away in 2023.

Lodali’s historical nucleus is Treiso, with vineyards in Bricco, Giacone, Ferrere and Massalupo (which belongs to neighbouring San Rocco Seno d’Elvio0. In Barolo, they have four hectares of vineyards in Bricco Ambrogio in the comune of Roddi. The oldest vineyards are used to make Lorens, dedicated to Walter’s father Lorenzo.
