getting over jet lag

pour me some lunch

After a turbulent flight and a very Italian ‘disorganised queue’ at customs, there’s only one way to get over jet lag – bright Tuscan sunshine and a great lunch at Colle Massari in Montecucco, tasting an impressive new set of vintages from Colle Massari and Grattamacco.

And check out their 900 year old olive tree. Like Hoges’ said – that’s not an olive tree, THIS is an olive tree.

Then onto Chianti Classico where the 2009 vintage is shaping up well. The wines are juicy with bright fruit and super elegant. Early reports on 2010 are a bit patchy: in Montalcino they are raving about it being one of the best ever vintages. In Chianti, yields were reduced, some by as much as 50%. Yet the Poggerino 2010 from tank is very promising, especially a sample of one batch given a 75 day skin contact. Poggerino, the Mascarello of Chianti!

And, just to prove that we have been working hard we do have a new Chianti producer to announce…..soon.
